The Salton Sea
went out to the Salton Sea recently, and had a blast! my good friend Derik found this cool empty looking city area on Google Earth, and we did a little reading up. turns out that this area called Salton City was planned as a resort and recreation town on the Salton Sea back in the 50s and 60s. of course there is no economy out there, so the area died. we thought it would be cool to go see a modern day ghost town, so off we went. however... turns out that California hit there, too. all this new construction was going up. 'buy now! 3 bedroom for 199,000$!!!' signs were everywhere! we were suprised.
of course we went down to the shore, and having Bucko the 4x4 Trucko encouraged us to get a little too close.

the muck was nasty! under the hard crust, salty mud was this tar like black mung that stuck like glue to everything. it was just gross. the worst part was that we started to sink as soon as we got stuck. we dug and dug, and even got boards under the wheels, but by that time the chassis was sitting flat on the mud and we weren't goin' nowhere.

where Bucko was sittin'

it was a mess. we had to pay a rediculous amount of money to the local economy to get ole Bucko hauled out. as soon as we got out and started driving, we noticed the balance was horribly off. we then had to drive 25 miles to get to the nearest place to power spray off as much of that nasty muck as we could.

we all got covered in mud, especially Daniel. he had to crawl under the truck on his back in order to get the chains around the axel, but we had a blast anyway. and it *was* a beautiful day...

so when's the next adventure???
