April's Granny Squares

i made these squares for my first April 6" granny square exchange; my partner is doing a safari theme. i really like the zebra-y style square, and i'm going to make more. it's an interesting concept, where you work the two colors in rounds without finishing off. instead, you drop the loop, crochet around, and pick up the loop to join with a slip stitch and continue.

the only thing i dont like about the pattern is the odd way the corners go. i think the pattern is supposed to be somewhat diamond shaped within the square, as the pattern consistently stated to start the 3 chain corner in the first chain of the corner below. it warped the square, so i will make a typical 3 chain corner building on the second chain in the corner below for the next square i make. i'll try it out for Daniel's 'ghan.
